Respiratory syncytial virus pathogenesis
Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is the leading cause of lower respiratory tract infection during early childhood worldwide. In addition, RSV is an important cause of morbidity in ruminants and the source of major economic losses and animal suffering. There is currently no satisfactory method for preventing or treating RSV infections both in human and ruminants. We are currently working towards the establishment of novel 3D in vitro systems as well as a large animal model of RSV infection to investigate its pathogenesis.
